Learning new languages

Learning a new language involves a great effort for any person, but children have it much easier due to the plasticity of their brains. In the first years of life, their brain acts like a sponge, absorbing everything it hears and feeding its knowledge. If you are thinking of teaching your son or daughter other languages, you should first know the benefits of doing so.

Here are some of them:

  1. Better pronunciation. Children have a natural ability to learn to speak a new language fluently and with good pronunciation by hearing and reproducing new sounds. In addition, at an early age there is no shame in making mistakes and this makes learning much easier.
  2. They develop greater tolerance. In a globalized world, knowing languages allows you to get to know and interact with people from other countries and develop tolerance towards other cultures.
  3. Improves their school performance. Learning new languages involves further development of cognitive skills such as creativity, memory, critical thinking and mental flexibility. These are all factors that influence learning.
  4. Improves problem-solving skills. When children learn a new language, they encounter many obstacles: an unfamiliar word, an expression that does not have the same meaning in their mother tongue, or a pronunciation that is very difficult to understand. In this situation, they should look for the right way to solve the problem.
