Four Great Children’s Stories

Do you think your students don’t read enough? If so, don’t worry; there are many ways to encourage reading through activities and games. Reading is an integral part of children’s learning and development. It offers enormous benefits such as improved concentration, memory, and imagination. It also helps children better understand and express their emotions, thus developing greater empathy for people around them.

However, reading is not just about reading. It is also about understanding. Reading comprehension is the basis of learning; it shows how well students perform in school and serves as a tool for accessing all types of information and knowledge.  If your goal is to spark your children’s interest and improve their reading comprehension, start with these books:

  1.  The Little Prince is a well-rounded reading that includes reflections on friendship, love, responsibility and the meaning of life. It tells a very touching story, full of life lessons and values that enrich kids.
  2. Matilda is an entertaining book for children who love reading. The story hooks you from the first to the last page. It follows the adventures of a 4-year-old girl, who learns to read and does mathematical calculations that most people don’t know by herself.
  3. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, an instant classic, tells a magical story about Willy Wonka, the owner of a chocolate factory. Mr. Wonka offers a unique opportunity: a visit to his factory to those children who manage to get their hands on five golden tickets that he randomly distributed in his chocolate bars. Charlie wants to be one of them, but it won’t be easy.
  4. Don Quixote; tells the incredible adventures of the knight Don Quixote de la Mancha and his squire Sancho Panza. It is a story full of thrilling escapades.
